When Ivy’s parents found out they were finally having their baby girl after three boys, they were bubbling over with joy. Her mommy was thrilled that she would finally get to use all the pinks, bows, and sweet little girly outfits.

Since she was born so close to Easter, we decided to use pastels as the theme for her session. We went with peach, pink, blue, and mint green. I don’t think her session could have suited her more perfectly!

We started her session wrapped in a simple light blue wrap, and laid on top of a beautiful array of soft blue layers.

Bowl shots are always my go to, to start out my newborn sessions. Being swaddled, snugly, in layers of wraps just puts babies right to sleep and helps ease them into their session smoothly.

Since she was feeling so secure, Ivy slept peacefully throughout her session. I was able to ease her through each setup easily, while her momma sat and watched.

I absolutely love hearing my clients “ooh” and “ahh” over their precious little ones as I wrap and pose them into the sweetest positions. There is just something so special about seeing your newborn baby during their first photoshoot. It’s something that I will personally always hold dear from my own son’s newborn session, and I’m sure many of my clients feel the same about their sessions with me.

If you are thinking of booking a session for your newborn, I encourage you to do so! It is an experience that I believe everyone should have.

Documenting this oh so fleeting time is such an important thing to do. You truly don’t realize how fast those tiny little features change, and looking back on these images will be all that is left of the tiny baby you brought home from the hospital months earlier.

I always suggest booking your newborn session early in your second trimester to ensure availability.
